Carved and Sculpted Beeswax
By Tracey-May Chambers, Canada

Respect for nature and life is at the essence of this Métis heritage artist’s work. Sculptured from beeswax and Damar gum, two naturally occurring substances created by living organisms, these objects extend the traditional metaphor of body as vessel by virtue of the life giving substances they are made from. Shaped into surrealist organic forms and imbued with a mineral iridescence these vessels shimmer with light and life.
