Knit Lead Crystal
by Carol Milne, USA

At the core of Carol’s work is a beautiful illusion; ropes of lead crystal that appear to have been knitted. In fact, the artist’s process does rely on knitting, but in flexible wax rope, that through the magic of lost wax casting, is transformed in to lush, glowing ribbons of translucent color. Carol’s basket forms, particularly those of thicker diameter rope, are functional as fruit bowls if desired, but the play of color, line and form are enough reason to want one. Carol’s lighted sculptures provide substantial ambient light and are also dimmable.
